What to know about the Trump administration’s new budget proposal
A budget proposal released Monday by the Trump White House is a blueprint for the administration’s first major spending bill since taking office.
Trump’s budget blueprint proposes $4 trillion for the Pentagon, an increase of $1.3 trillion from the $4.8 trillion budget Trump signed into law on January 20.
It also includes a $4 billion boost for Amtrak, an $8 billion increase in border security, and $1 billion for the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The blueprint also calls for $4,000 for a child care center and $300 million to combat the opioid epidemic.
Trump has proposed increasing the federal debt limit to raise the debt limit in 2021.
