Colorado man arrested in Walmart burglary, Walmart theft
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) A man arrested Friday in a Walmart burglary and a Walmart theft in southwest South Carolina has been charged with stealing two guns from the Walmart, according to court records.
The arrest was made Friday after a brief foot chase that ended in a standoff with police.
Authorities say it was a “misunderstanding” by the suspect who was released without charges.
The Walmart is in a community in southeastern South Carolina, about a half-hour north of Columbia.
The suspect’s father says the suspect is a convicted felon who was kicked out of prison because he was caught shoplifting in 2011.
It’s unclear if the suspect was convicted of a crime.
The incident is the latest in a series of burglaries and robberies in Charleston that have raised concern for public safety.
A woman was shot and killed outside a Walmart store in the area Friday.
