Man arrested in alleged murder of Australian journalist’s daughter

A man has been arrested in relation to the murder of a journalist’s Australian daughter.

He was arrested under the Terrorism Act and faces the death penalty if found guilty.

Mr Fylfe is due to appear in the Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Police say he had been in contact with the victim and had taken her to a house where she was beaten and robbed.

“The victim was assaulted in the home and her body was found in a vehicle seat,” Detective Senior Sergeant John Hynes said.

“There was a hole in the seat.

It appears she was assaulted with a knife.

The victim was in a state of shock at the time.”

Police say the suspect has an extensive criminal record.

The baby was not named but the ABC understands the infant’s mother has been named as Rachelle McKeever.

Police are seeking to speak to any potential witnesses to the crime.

The victim’s daughter, who was taken to hospital on Thursday, has been released from hospital.

The man has not been named.
